Over the years F1 has seen teams come and teams go, but one thing is always key, without the teams there would be no races. Generally Formula One teams fall into three categories.
- The F1 teams you see for a few years and disappear or much loved ones that may return such as March / Leighton House / Arrows / Coopers / Brabhams / Tyrells
- The F1 teams that come back after going missing for some years, though few are ever going to have this luxury that we see with the Lotus resurrection
- The F1 teams that have been around since year dot such as Ferrari
So with the Formula one teams that come and go, we could take for example Lotus, who entered Formula One as a team in 1958 and lasted until 1994. Then it came back fo F1 again in 2010.
For the F1 team that comes and stays forever, Ferrari are amongst the main name that remains as one of the longest and most successful teams of F1, closely followed by Mclarens and Williams.
Teams means huge money and sponsorships, it’s clearly an expensive hobby to run particularly if you have little success. With this in mind the teams have grown in strength and on occassions even threatened to independently break away in a similar fashion to the Indy Racing League and Champ Car World Series of the USA.
