The 5.14-km track, located near Delhi is being built ready for the 2011 season. Hermann Tilke, who has designed F1 circuits in Malaysia, Bahrain, China, Turkey, UAE and South Korea is the mastermind behind the circuit design.
The Indian Grand Prix is the 18th race of the FIA Formula One World Championship racing calendar in 2011. It is scheduled to take place at the Jaypee Group Circuit on October 30th, 2011 in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh and is subject to an inspection of the circuit.
The 10-year contract for the Indian Grand Prix was given to the Indian construction company Jaiprakash Associates.
Remarkably the site still looks like a huge builders yard just several months before the first race. According to Ashok Khurana, executive vice-chairman of JPSK, the core area of the circuit would be spread over 4,000 hectares.
It is yet unkown exactly how many laps will be set but sensible guesses would suggest 61 laps providing a 189 miles race length.
