First included in the Formula One World Championship in 1999, the current Malaysian Grand Prix is held at the Sepang International Circuit at Sepang, Malaysia.
The heat and storms have certainly provided some interesting races since its establishment at the Sepang International Circuit outside Kuala Lumpur. The 2009 Malaysian Grand Prix race was abandoned due to bad weather and poor light.
In early 2008, the Sepang International Circuit announced its aim to become Formula One’s second night race from 2009 after Singapore, following discussions about buying a floodlighting system. Since then though, the event has continued to function in daylight. The organizers have confirmed that they will not be making the race a night race.
In 2011, the race will change its name to the Malaysia Grand Prix from Malaysian Grand Prix.
